Ancient Teachings for Modern Times - A daylong retreat with Nick Kranz
Time & Location
About the Event
In this daylong retreat, Nick Kranz leads an exploration of the thousand-year-old Lojong teachings, and how they can still bring wisdom into our everyday lives.
These teachings are often referred to as Heart Training because they focus on reframing the way in which we go about bringing joy into our lives. We're learning how to increase our compassion and deepen in our ability to see through our own limiting beliefs, and these practices are gold!
Nick Kranz is an experienced and dynamic meditation teacher with a passion for sharing authentic wisdom. He’s interested in social innovation, cultural transformation, and collaborative business that positively impacts society. After 20 years of deep training in the practice of meditation, Nick has a profound belief in everyone’s potential to explore and benefit from the practice, and is devoted to guiding people along the path with friendliness and skill. He has studied under Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Khandro Rinpoche, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Mingyur Rinpoche, Ato Rinpoche and many other great Tibetan Lamas
Nick is the founder of the practice of social meditation, which is practiced around the globe. He has trained hundreds of leaders using this form of practice. He speaks in front of hundreds at universities, hospitals, businesses, and online. His humor and relaxation inspire people to come into the present moment and enjoy.

Because each of our personal situations is unique, our ability to participate in an online retreat from home will vary. For someone who is employed outside the home and has children and family at home, it might not be difficult to participate in every session of the day. There will be ample opportunities for participants to take a break for personal needs. A detailed retreat schedule will be posted so that you can schedule your participation in the way that best accommodates your availability.
If you have questions or need additional information about this retreat or other Flowering Lotus program offerings, please contact:
Beth Herzig, Retreat Director
We ask that you support Flowering Lotus and those whose needs are greater by registering at the highest level ($75, $50, $25) with which you’re comfortable.
All are welcome to participate, regardless of ability to pay. If you are unable to pay the minimum $25 registration, select “Scholarship”, and no payment will be required.
There will be an opportunity to make a dana* contribution in any amount, to Flowering Lotus and the teachers at the online event. Your generosity is a gift that supports not just the teacher; but also the Sangha (Flowering Lotus); the larger Dharma community; and, most importantly, your own practice.
*Dana is a Pali word that is generally translated “generosity.” We are taught to practice dana, or generosity, by making monetary offerings for the teachings. Dana is not payment for services rendered – it is given from the heart. Dana is the first theme in the Buddha’s system of gradual training and the first of the three grounds for meritorious action.
