Close out your summer with the longest meditation retreat we've hosted in years! We’re hosting a 5 day residential silent retreat over Labor Day weekend. We are welcoming the leading teachers from Wild Heart Meditation Center of Nashville. If you’re unfamiliar with Andrew Chapman, LMSW or Rev. Mikey Noechel, MS as teachers, you can take them on a test drive by listening to the Wild Heart Nashville Podcast. They have various dharma talks posted. You’ll hear how experienced and real their teaching styles are. These teachers are down to earth, realistic, experienced and great story tellers and guides. There is a wealth of dharma teachings in the archives of this podcast.
If you'd like to see their humorous side you MUST watch this hysterical infomercial they filmed for this event.
Just like Flowering Lotus Meditation, despite the many set backs sanghas faced to gather during the pandemic, Wild Heart has continued to thrive in the Nashville area. In the past, Wild Heart has hosted their retreats at Heartwood Refuge in North Carolina. Heartwood is lead by Venerable Pannavati, our (FLM) Spiritual Director, so we have many common connections. Both Rev. Mikey Noechel, MS and the third Labor Day retreat teacher, Rev. Marika Maypop, have both trained under Ven. Pannavati. This interconnectedness of lineage and leaders feels like Wild Heart is a true sister sangha.
Rev. Marika Maypop is long time resident of New Orleans and has co-lead an insight meditation group in New Orleans for over 6 years. Having practiced and several FLM retreats over the years, this also feels special to welcome Marika as teacher this time.
We will be hosting this retreat at William J. Kelley Retreat Center in Bay St. Louis. Know that we have plenty of room and you will be cared for during this retreat. There are spacious double occupancy rooms with private bathrooms in the residence halls. As usual we will provide comfortable accommodations and delicious, freshly prepared vegetarian meals (with GF or V options if requested). Three experienced teachers will offer Dharma teachings, meditation instructions and optional personal interviews. You can expect to feel welcomed, accepted and taken care of at our retreats. This is open to anyone, beginner or experienced meditators are welcome.
All this to say, these teachers don't come here to our area (MS/LA/AL/FL) very often. Flowering Lotus Meditation doesn't offer 5 day retreat opportunities very often. If you have any interest in attending this unique opportunity please register as quickly as possible.
If you are considering flying in from a different area, please know we can offer ride share to and from the New Orleans airport or the New Orleans area. This is the closest airport to the retreat in Bay St. Louis. Anything we can do to support you in your journey will be done.
If you have any additional questions about what to expect at this retreat or if you have any questions whatsoever, we are here for you. Please read over this event listing and call us if want. You can call Beth Herzig at 601-918-8510 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
